Vacation in Maine - Day 5

We had much anticipation for our day of bike riding! We ate breakfast and headed out. It was overcast and when we pulled into the bike shop it started raining, we pulled out Josh's phone to look at the weather and we saw a big green blob moving in. So we changed our plans and headed to a coffee shop in Kennebunkport, spent some time there and some time walking around the shops in the town. So despite the rain our morning was still very fun!

Then we decided to have lunch at Mabel's (the same place we had pie the first night). Ty fell asleep right when we got there and so we had a little date! It was so fun. We were the 1 1/2 hours, we laid him down on some jackets and blankets on the booth and he slept the whole time! We had their famous New England Clam Chowder and a whole lobster! Yum.

By this time, we were hoping the rain would pass and the bike riding would be able to happen in the afternoon, but it looks like the showers were here to stay.

We went back to the hotel and spent the rest of the day there. We took this opportunity to actually workout...in hopes to work off a few of the MANY calories we have taken in this week!! We got 2 loads of laundry done, took a little nap, enjoyed the 4pm cookies in the lobby along with complimentary 24 hr. coffee, and takeout for dinner!

What a fun day just relaxing and being together and alone as a family, something we feel like we don't get near enough of in our regular life at home!

Vacation in Maine - Day 4

We drove to find some bike rental shops and didn't have luck finding them right away so we visited the Nubble Lighthouse in York, ME. It was beautiful! Only sad part....after we got there we went to get out the camera and guess what we had forgot at the hotel. :( So don't worry we will go back before we leave to get some pictures.

We got lunch there, fish and chips! It was a 1st for me and it was very yummy, everything was fried how could it not be yummy? :)

Then we headed to a National Research Reserve in Wells, ME where they had hiking trails. I was very excited about this! And we got there and started in on the trails, and the scenery was amazing! There were parts out in the open on hill tops, and others portions of the trail were in the beautiful trees. Nice grass trails as well as nice wooden bridges. About 30 min. in, this was definitely my favorite part of the trip so far! But then, the mosquitos started! And boy oh boy. We couldn't get out of there fast enough. Ty was in our baby bjorn taking a nap and I was trying to cover him with my jacket and still swat. Such a bummer! I'd love to go on those trails on a cold day!

Then we headed to Portland, ME for dinner at King of the Roll for some delicious sushi!!! Loved Portland, such an adorable city. It's a bigger city, but feels so much more quaint than Boston did. We might want to go back and spend more time there before we head home.

After our hike we found a bike rental place, so a bike ride is on the schedule for tomorrow!

Vacation to Maine - Day 3 (Boston)

We started off the day by heading out to Boston around 7:00am, with the traffic it took us about 2 hours to get there, and Boston was a very pretty city! We stopped at the Aquarium there and spent about 1 1/2 hours. We were both really excited to go, and had high hopes, and while it was fun, we were a little disappointed. Not quite as big or as cool as we had anticipated. And it probably didn't help that it was PACKED and there were tons of kids just running everywhere! We still had a fun time and see the highlights of the trip in the pictures below!

We ventured down the road by foot to a historic downtown area called Faneuil Hall Marketplace. It was a really neat area, and would have loved it if we had been able to do clothes shopping, lots of great stores! We found lunch here, they had a very very long row of food vendors to choose from and we chose a fun panini place. We also saw the Cheers restaurant and stopped at a Christmas store (which are all over the place here by the way!) and picked up an ornament of a lighthouse for our Christmas tree!

We made it back to the hotel in about 1 1/2 hours and while Josh laid down for a nap, Ty and I went for a swim in the hotel pool! We had a blast. He's starting off as such a good swimmer, we worked on kicking and blowing bubbles. So much fun spending that time with him!

Enjoyed a small thunderstorm and then found a restaurant for dinner, and it was very yummy! Now just relaxing, getting ready for bed soon!! :)

Maine - Day 2

Our day 2 on vacation in Maine started off very relaxing! Sleeping in, getting breakfast, letting Ty take a nap in the room, and I got the chance to blog our 1st day. It felt great to hanging out without a schedule and something to get to!

Then we headed out to Perkins Cove in Ogunquit and did some sight seeing and had lunch at Footbridge. We even got to see a fisherman bring in a bunch of lobster! So cool!

Then we went into Ogunquit and found the beach there and went for a little stroll. Watch out for that water though, it's COLD!! :)

We got to do more driving and see many more amazing sights!

And found another beach with perfect soft, fine, white sand! Ah, so nice.

Gotta love when you ask someone to take your picture and it comes out like this. :)
